This school settled in Jávea since 2017, took its first steps as a nursery school to later also incorporate the primary stage. It was there when they began their first steps to be able to homologate their teachings.
In August 2020, the school achieved the International School certification granted by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), complying with all the quality standards that this body requires. One of them is that 50% of the curriculum that students receive is in English.
In August of this year, it finally obtained authorization from the Ministry, thus becoming the only school in the Marina Alta for infant and primary school with alternative pedagogy approved by the Generalitat.
Waldorf pedagogy was born in Germany more than 100 years ago and together with the Montessori method, it is one of the most popular alternative pedagogies worldwide, with more than 1000 schools around the world. Waldorf schools follow the curriculum that is established in each country, the difference lies in the teaching method.
In the facilities of this center all the materials are created from natural elements. It has about 2500 m2 of outdoor patios surrounded by pine trees, sandboxes, wooden cabins, a climbing wall, an orchard ...
It currently has about 380 m2 of construction for kindergarten and primary school but there is a project to expand facilities to also accommodate the secondary level. In children’s classrooms, wool and felt toys are made by the teachers. In primary school, textbooks are written by the children themselves based on the knowledge they acquire in class. Music, art and values can never be absent in a school with this pedagogy.
Many parents seek to educate their children in schools that respect the rhythm of each child, promote self-esteem, autonomy and creativity. And some families are even willing to move their place of residence for this to happen. This is the case of this school, where many of the families it has have been coming to Jávea from other parts of the world.
