Casa Duna - The light of the Mediterranean -RAMON ESTEVE

Casa Duna is located in the border area between the dunes and the urbanized area of ​​a small coastal town in the province of Valencia.

This house is the result of the sum of the patterns of Mediterranean architecture from a contemporary and abstract point of view: the luminosity and warmth of the Mediterranean from the conceptualization and language of Ramón Esteve Estudio.

The house is made up of a white concrete envelope that generates a large protective shell for a harmonious and delicate interior, where light woods and natural stone predominate. The large overhangs and the system of slats protect the house from saltpeter, sunlight and views from the beach.

The project seeks maximum integration with the Mediterranean dune ecosystem, so the landscaping is characterized by the use of native shrub species such as grasses and palms.

The longitudinal facades offer a contrasting image, the west facade is protected from the harshest hours of sunlight and from the views from the street, while the west facade allows greater transparency and direct views of the beach.

The ground floor concentrates the daytime rooms and a fluid distribution is generated with visual connections between the different rooms. The program is replicated outside, protected by the large overhangs. The terraces are finished off by a large swimming pool located at the edge of the plot.

The night rooms are concentrated on the first floor and are also reflected outside.
