ABSOLUTE SUCCESS OF THE TOURISM SECTOR AT FITUR 2023

The 43rd edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid has come to an end with an attendance of more than 222,000 attendees, a figure that practically equals its historical record, in 2020, and doubles that of last year, when pandemic restrictions still applied.

According to a press release released by FITUR, the fair has welcomed 136,000 trade professionals, 68% more than in 2022; while in the two days open to the public, 86,000 visitors have been recorded, which triples the figure of a year ago.

The director of FITUR, María Valcarce, has declared to the media her satisfaction with the 2023 edition, which she has called “fantastic” thanks to a “very strong” growth compared to the previous year and in which the number of international participation.

The organization has also highlighted that the online connection platform has recorded more than 56,000 registrations, an increase of more than 80% compared to 2022.

Throughout the five days of the fair, 400 authorities have attended, including the traditional inauguration by the kings and members of the Spanish government, as well as institutional officials from 16 autonomous communities and more than a hundred foreign dignitaries including ambassadors and tourism ministers.

Integrated into the Costa Blanca stand, the municipality had a counter with all the current promotional material, both for natural enclaves and proposals for active or cultural tourism.

And it is that the City Council is presented this year with the brand ‘Xàbia en Viu’, which brings together all the music festivals that are held in the town (jazz, folk, blues, classical, swing, traditional, percussion or rock) and the programming cultural and leisure with the population makes it clear that it is a destination to enjoy 365 days a year.
