Large mural dedicated to the Jávea´s port by Victor Goikoetxea

A mural with all the marine essence welcomes the Duanes de Xàbia neighborhood. The artistic work, signed by the artist Víctor Goikoetxea, occupies the wall of the public car park next to Avenida del Puerto, a space visible from the road and through which hundreds of pedestrians pass daily.

The mayor, José Chulvi, visited the artistic work together with the mayor of Culture, Quico Moragues and the councilor of Duanes, Marta Bañuls. They were very satisfied with the work of Goikoetxea, which, they consider, perfectly reflects the commission that was made to him from the City Council: “to capture the soul of a fishing port and what it represents for our people.” Chulvi has congratulated the artist, who in Xàbia has other works such as a mural on Teuleria street and the sculpture tribute to David Ferrer on the Arenal promenade. On his part, the author is also very happy for the immense reception and complicity that he has found in the population from the first stroke of this work. He has been accompanied practically daily during the long month of work by people who came to see the evolution of painting.

A mural with which they have wanted to vindicate the authentic Xàbia, from the roots; “Historical memory, where we come from,” they have pointed out. Goikoetxea has added that, with the light and colors of this painting, he has also paid his small tribute to Joaquín Sorolla in the year in which Xàbia is commemorating the 125th anniversary of his first visit to the town.
